Inis Meáin's Fíodóir Cardigan emulates the mosaic patterns of the island's stone walls in a striking combination of knitting and weaving (Fíodóir means “weaver”. btw). This intricate stitch uses a flecked Donegal yarn for the base. and 3 contrasting colors for the floating weave. This is a uniquely textured piece; a statement sweater on its own or layered under outerwear.
Inis Meáin is one of the three Aran Islands that lie thirty miles off the western shore of Ireland. It's a place of wild and rugged beauty where fishermen's garments have been designed. knitted and woven by their families for centuries. Inspired by this unique spirit. Tarlach de Blácam and Áine Ní Chonghaile founded the Inis Meáin Knitting Company in 1976.
